After One Month, Kidnappers Keep 2 Women in Taraba, Free 3

Three out of five women abducted along Takum-Tor Damisa road in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State have regained freedom.

The five women, who are traders, were traveling from Takum town to Tor Damisa in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State when they were abducted and taken to the forest.

Daily Trust gathered that three of the five women abducted four weeks ago regained freedom after ransom was paid.

A resident of Takum, Musa Dauda, told Daily Trust that the five women who are Yoruba from one of the southwest states are living in Takum town.

He said the two other women are still being held by the kidnappers suspected to be Tiv militia.

Dauda said suspected Tiv militia were responsible for most of the kidnapping and armed robbery incidents along Takum-Wukari road, Takum-Katsina Ala road and Takum-Chanchangi road.

The spokesman of Taraba State Police Command, DSP David Misal could not be reached for comment as his line was switched off when our reporter called him.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
