Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has approved the appointment of Kabiru Gidado Misa as second Class Chief of Bakundi Chiefdom.  In the same vein, Abubakar Mahmoud Adamu has also been appointed as Second Class Chief of Jibu Bali Chiefdom. Others are  Daniel Kikong third class Chief of Bika  Ufeb Chiefdom and Alexander Gankwe as third class Chief of Shibong Chiefdom. The appointments are with immediate effect

  Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has urged residents of communities affected by the Tiv and Jukun conflicts in Southern Taraba to return to their homes following the restoration of peace. Ishaku who spoke weekend in Chonku, one of the affected villages during an assessment tour to affected communities, noted that economic activities in the area has been truncated for long and needs to be revived. He explained that farming, which is the major occupation of residents of the affected communities and main economic drive in Southern Taraba, needs to kick start to avoid food shortage. He further urged the warring parties to embrace peace and cohabit peacefully. Ishaku also promised to facilitate more developmental projects to the affected areas for the benefit of all if they live in harmony. He thereafter laid the foundation for the establishment of a security post in Chonku, which is to be jointly manned by the military and police. Vanguard News Nigeria.

 Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has showered encomium on president Muhammadu Buhari for giving approval for the construction of a bridge across river Ibi after many years of neglect. The bridge across river Ibi which is expected to be 2.3km long with an access road of 8km on both ends was awarded by the Federal Government to RCC at the cost of N57 billion. Ishaku who on Friday visited the site of the project in Ibi town, assured that his administration is ready to render support to the contractors whenever the need arises. More than 22 medicals staff and consultants employed between last year and today by the Taraba State Government have resigned from state employment over poor pay and lack of training opportunities, investigations by Taraba Truth and Facts have revealed.   Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has called on all those who fled their communities due to the crisis in Southern Taraba to return. Governor Ishaku made the call in Chunku, a community previously co-habited by the Tiv and Jukun people but which was deserted in the wake of the crisis between them. Ishaku was on Thursday in Chunku community to establish a security post to be manned jointly by the military and the police. He said Chunku community is of strategic importance to peace in Southern Taraba in a significant way, adding that if there’s no peace in Chunku then there can’t be genuine peace between groups in the zone. Thirteen   states including TARABA, Oyo, Osun and Ekiti are finding it difficult to fund their recurrent expenditure and loan repayment schedules due in 2019. According to a report released by BudgIT, the worst-hit are Oyo, Kogi, Osun and Ekiti states while the other states on this pendulum are Plateau, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Cross River, Benue, TARABA and Abia. The report said Bayelsa, Borno and Katsina would be worst hit by dwindling revenue as they relied on net FAAC for 89.56 per cent, 88.30 per cent and 88.16 per cent of their total revenues, respectively in 2019. Lagos, Ogun and Rivers states would  be least affected as they relied on Federal Allocation (Net FAAC) for only 22.82 per cent, 35.31 per cent and 53.02 per cent of their total revenues, respectively. Some Primary and secondary school students in Taraba were not allowed into classes for non-compliance with COVID-19 rules as directed by the state government. The governme nt, after reviewing the situation directed public and private school authorities to resume classes for students with strict adherence to COVID-19 safety rules. Two days after the resumption date, some students were prevented from entering classrooms while some schools are yet to resume. Speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini,  Sunday debunked insinuations in some quarters that there is  serious crack among  members of the assembly. Kunini, who stated this during an exclusive interview with Blueprint said there is nothing called G-8 in the assembly. The wife of Taraba State Governor, Anna Ishaku, has commended Fidelity Bank Plc for providing a three-day free medical outreach to 829 internally displaced persons in Kona community, Jalingo, Taraba State, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Taraba state government has concluded plans to re-open basic and secondary schools on Monday, September 21, 2020. Making the plan public yesterday in Jalingo, the state’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education said the decision was arrived at after several meetings with principals, parents, and the board members. Schools in Taraba and other parts of the country were forced to shut down in the wake of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) six months ago. The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Johannes Jigem, said the schools were to be re-opened based on the directive of Governor Darius Ishaku. “Directives have been sent to all principals, headmasters, and proprietors,” he added. The schools have been instructed to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols, as the government has promised to provide safety materials for the returning pupils. Organisers of the 1st Taraba State Open Beach Volleyball Championship have revealed that the competition will kick off tomorrow and end on Saturday. The championship will hold at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo, Taraba state capital. The organiser of the event, who doubles as the assistant coach of Nigeria Customs Service women’s volleyball team, Jonah Adamu, said the major aim of the championship is to develop, nurture and inculcate high level of professionalism in the young players. There is a noticeable reduction in the prices of foodstuff in rural areas of Taraba State, DAILY TRUST  gathered on Saturday. The areas where it was noticed include Mutum Biyu, Garba Chede, Maihula, Dakka, Garbabi, Tella Monkin and Jatau. It was gathered that a 100kg bag of newly harvested maize now sells at N8,000 in Maihula while in Dakka it sells at N7,000. Similarly, in Mutum Biyu and Garba Chede, the bag sells at between N12,000 and N11,000. Daily Trust findings revealed that a 100kg bag of old stock maize is now sold at between N13,000 and N15,000 across rural areas of the state. It was learnt that farmers have flooded markets with new maize but there were only a few buyers, a development that forced prices down. The price of newly harvested rice has also reduced from N 17,000 per 100kg bag to N12,000. Price of locally processed rice also went down from N1,200 per measure to N9,000.   A former German military base in Garbabi, Gashaka Local Government Area, is said to be falling to pieces. Built in 1910 on top of a hill about 300 meters high, the base, overlooking the River Taraba, was said to have been used by the German military for surveillance before it was abandoned. Garbabi town is located along the Bali to Gembu Road. Cameroon was a German colony between 1884 and 1916, but with the defeat of Germany in the First World War, some parts of northern and southern Cameroon came under British control. Some areas in Borno, Adamawa and Taraba states formed part of northern Cameroon.   As part of its commitment to provide social amenities to its host communities, the Defence headquarters on Thursday commissioned five boreholes in five communities of Taraba State. The five boreholes were sunk by the Department of Civil-Military Cooperation in the office of the Chief of Defence Staff of which two were sited at Wukari new site and Rafinkada in Wukari Local Government Area, one at Akate in Donga local government area and two in Chanchaji and Takum communities in Takum LGA of the state.
