...Says there is no any Case of COVID-19 in Taraba His Excellency Governor Darius Dickson today presided over the state Executive Council meeting. The meeting took place at the state Executive Council Chambers government House Jalingo. Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has directed that all the civil servants from grade level 1 to 12 should stay away from work and remain at home for two weeks to enable the government to monitor the Covid  19. The governor’s directives is to effect from 25th March 2020. In a press statement sign by the governor’s press Secretary Hassan Mijiyawa said the governor has also approve a composition of a technical committee to ensure adequate control and sensitization of the state population on the outbreak of the COVID 19. “The technical committee is expected to expand stakeholders’ engagement and enhance sensitization across the state” “Similarly, those in essential services are exempted from the directives, the governor therefore urge the people of the state to effect social distance and observe good hygiene” LEADERSHIP 

The Taraba State Government has responded to our  Special Report on the Mambilla Hydropower Dam  on March 18, in which the Federal Government blamed Governor Darius Ishaku for delaying the take-off of the project. The state government said it was doing a thorough job on the project, which should not be labelled as delay. The Nation  correspondent spent four days in Sarduana, where he visited the sites, before reporting that the project sites are still fishing grounds. Governor Darius Ishaku has directed Public,Private and tertiary institutions in the State  to be closed on or before twenty fourth of March twenty twenty as a result of the Corona virus pandemic. The Governor stated this during a State wide broadcast to people of the State in Jalingo. He said leadership of various institutions must ensure that they make proper arrangements to that effect to ensure compliance. THE Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, has blamed the Taraba state government for delaying the takeoff of work on the Mambilla hydropower project. The minister, who spoke to The Nation through his spokesman, Aaron Artimas, on the telephone, said the project’s consultant and contractors can only move to the site when the affected people are compensated and relocated. He said President Muhammadu Buhari has put everything in place to ensure the project is actualised within four years, but the delays by the Taraba state government will impact negatively on the pace of the work. He disclosed that the cheque for the compensation of the host communities was ready but Governor Darius Ishaku was not ready to collect the money. The Taraba State Government has joined the state governments seeking ways and means of curbing the spread of Covid-19 by establishing two isolation centres. The centres are located in the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) and the State Specialist Hospital in Jalingo. The state capital Commissioner for Health, Dr. Innocent Vakkai, who disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen on the measures so far put in place to contain the pandemic, said the isolation centres were designed for any eventuality. States have started complying with the Federal Government’s directive to shut the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camps. In a visit to Taraba State camp located at Sibre, along Jalingo-Wukari Expressway, corps members in their number were queuing up to be documented as others were seen loitering around in disarray. The State Coordinator, David Markson, who declined being interviewed stressed that the directive by the NYSC Director-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim said “no state coordinator should speak to the press except the DG.” Although the corps members are undergoing an emergency clearance for their monthly allowances, they are however expected to depart immediately after receiving same. The Governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku, is expected to return to the state today after about 10 weeks of absence. The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Danjuma Adamu, made this known to the  Blueprint  Wednesday in a telephone chat from Jalingo.  He said that elaborate arrangements had been put in place to give the number one citizen a rousing reception at the Danbaba Suntai Airport, Jalingo. Arewa Youth Assembly, in conjunction with other Civil Society Organisations, have called on Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State to transmit power to his deputy as stipulated by the constitution, following his long absence from the state. In a statement signed on Tuesday by the Publicity Secretary of the youth assembly, Bar.
