Governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has flagged off the construction of the 24-kilometre Yerima-Gassol road at a cost of 7.7billion naira. Yerima-Gassol road leads  to the State International Rice Milling Company in Gassol Local Government Area. The rice company plans to go fully operational by December of this year. Taraba State is blessed with land for agriculture, which if properly managed can produce the food needed to feed the nation. But the security threats in the land have drastically affected the productivity of farming communities. According to a report by Daily Trust, Tella is a leading market in Taraba State where more than 3,000 cattle are sold every market day. The market is located by River Taraba in Tella town of Gassol Local Government Area. Findings by Daily Trust on Sunday show that the market has an economic importance to the entire community and serving as a major source of revenue to both Taraba State and Gassol Local Government. Thousands of cattle are brought to the market, which functions every Sunday throughout the year. Apart from hundreds of cattle breeders and herdsmen, merchants from different parts of the country also conduct their business in the market.   Taraba state governor Darius Ishaku, on Thursday said the Taraba state  International Milling Company would commence massive rice milling before December this year as part of the administration’s efforts to tackle food insecurity. The governor disclosed this during a visit to the company site in Gassol after flagging off the 24km Yerima Gassol road that links the company and many farming communities in the area to the rest of the state. He noted that the company was the state government target to boost rice production and marketing to enhance the economy of the state and boost food security. Four members of the Taraba State House of Assembly have lost their seats. They were sacked by a unanimous resolution of the House passed on Wednesday June 22, 2022. The sacked members are: Rt. Hon Abel Peter Diah Rt. Hon Mark Useni Hon Gambo Maikudi Hon. Josiah J.  Due  to the non-payment of retirement benefits to pensioners, some senior citizens in Taraba State have died, SaharaReporters learnt on Tuesday.   Residents of Yoro Community in Yoro local government area of Taraba state, have decried the failure by Governor Darius Ishaku to complete the 6.3bn 20km Mararraban Pantisawa road within three years as promised in 2017. Naija News  reports that  Governor Darius Ishaku  had on July 26, 2017, flagged off the construction of the 20km road from Lacheke village, Mararraba Pantisawa, worth the sum of 6.3bn, with the promise that the road would be completed and commissioned in December 2019. Channels TV 📺  Taraba State Police Command, yesterday, paraded a 37- year-old bomb expert, Bala Usman, who was arrested in Tella town of Gassol Local Council of the state, THE GUARDIAN REPORT. Business activities were on Monday temporarily brought to a standstill in Wukari local government council of Taraba State by the women of the council. They are protesting the incessant disappearance of children from the various communities that make up the council. At the time of filing this report, no fewer than eight children are said to be missing from the council. Moving from street to street demanding for the whereabouts of no fewer than eight children, the angry mothers asked security agencies to investigate the children’s disappearance and bring perpetrators to book. The Taraba state government has flagged-off the 2022 wet season input distribution which will kick start the distribution of essential farm inputs to farmers in the 2022 wet season as part of Nigeria’s Covid-19 recovery and economic stimulus programme, under the Fadama Taraba CARES. The flag-off was done by the Executive Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, who was ably represented by his Deputy, Engr. Haruna Manu.
