We’ll Ensure No Taraban Die of COVID-19” – Gov. Ishaku

Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku on Tuesday (22nd September 2020) said his administration was doing all it could to ensure that nobody in the State die of COVID-19.

To this end, Governor Ishaku said his administration was expanding testing and isolation facilities in the state to ensures proper handling of Covid-19 cases in the State.

The Governor disclosed this on Tuesday when members of the State Task Force on COVID-19 led by its chairman, Dr. Innocent Vakkai presented an executive summary of the activities of the Task Force to him in Government House Jalingo.

Ishaku told the committee that his administration was expanding testing and treatment facilities in the State for COVID-19 in preparation for the next phase of its campaign against the pandemic.

The Governor who attributed low cases of infection and high rate of survival of victims in the state to early and adequate preparations by his administration called on the people of the state to continue to adhere to the COVID-19 protocol.

“Efforts are being intensified to keep the disease completely out of Taraba State and to ensure that nobody dies as a result of it.
“My administration is expanding testing and isolation facilities in the state to ensures cases, when they occur, are promptly and properly handled.
“I want to commend members of the task force for a job well done and I will continue to support them to do more, ” he said.

Our correspondent reports that the state recorded 95 cases of the virus with zero death so far.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
