Taraba Assembly Passes Bill For Governors, Deputies’ Pension

The Taraba State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill for the payment of pensions and entitlements to governors and deputy governors who have served the state for a reasonable period of time.

The Speaker of the house, Dr Mark Usani Bako, who presided over the sitting yesterday in Jalingo, said the bill was sponsored by the former speaker of the house, Hon Josiah Sabo Kente of Wukuri 1 state constituency.

He added that the bill would provide pension to former holders of the office of governor and deputy governor of the state.

Hon A. Ajulde of (Gembu Constituency) at a plenary sitting moved the motion for the adhoc- committee set up by the house to present its report before the house and was seconded by the majority leader of the house, Hon Joseph Albasu Kunini of Lau Constituency.

Reading the report before the members of the house, the chairman of the adhoc committee, Hon. Istisfanus Gbana, said the committee has recommended that any person who has been governor or deputy governor of the state and was not removed from office as a result of impeachment would be entitled to the annual salary.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
