The Taraba State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill for
the payment of pensions and entitlements to governors and deputy
governors who have served the state for a reasonable period of time.
The Speaker of the house, Dr Mark Usani Bako, who presided over the
sitting yesterday in Jalingo, said the bill was sponsored by the former
speaker of the house, Hon Josiah Sabo Kente of Wukuri 1 state
constituency.
He added that the bill would provide pension to former holders of the office of governor and deputy governor of the state.
Hon A. Ajulde of (Gembu Constituency) at a plenary sitting moved the
motion for the adhoc- committee set up by the house to present its
report before the house and was seconded by the majority leader of the
house, Hon Joseph Albasu Kunini of Lau Constituency.
Reading the report before the members of the house, the chairman of
the adhoc committee, Hon. Istisfanus Gbana, said the committee has
recommended that any person who has been governor or deputy governor of
the state and was not removed from office as a result of impeachment
would be entitled to the annual salary.
