Meet Justice Who Will Swear-in Prersident-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari

The president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari will be swear-in as Nigeria’s President by the Chief Justice Mahmud Mohammed.

He will deliver the oath of office for Buhari.

City people reports that Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed was born on November 10, 1946 in Jalingo, Jalingo local government, Taraba state, to Malam Mamman Maikato Bakin Kasuwa Jalinggo (a sawyer/timber dealer) and Aishatu Mamman of Garrkin Dogo Village, Lau local government.

He attended Malam Kasimu Koranic School, Jalingo (1950 -53), Junior Primary School, Jalingo (1953-56), Senior Primary School, Jalingo (1957-59).

Justice Mahmud commenced his career in public service with the Ministries of Justice of the defunct Northeastern state, and Gongola state, and the judiciary of the Defunct Gongola state.
In 1991, he was nominated the Acting Chief Judge of Taraba state, and was later confirmed as the Substantive Chief Judge of the state the same year.
Prior to being appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court in 2005, he was Justice of the Court of Appeal, and then Presiding Justice.
Stepping in as the 15th CJN, Justice Mohammed has made history as the first indigenously-trained lawyer to rise to peak of the judiciary. His predecessors were trained outside the country.

It would be recalled that May 29, Friday is a day many Nigerians have been waiting for – with eagerness – as our president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari will take over the layer of leadership of this country from leaving President Goodluck Jonathan after six years in the saddle of the latter.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. The ultimatum was issued following resolutions reached at ASUU’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Abuja, where the union expressed concern over what it described as the “haphazard implementation” of the agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
