Gov Darius Is Running Autocratic Govt In Taraba —APC

The Taraba State Chairman of the All Pregressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Hassan Jika Ardo has described the administration of governor Darius Ishaku as autocratic.

Ardo, who stated this yesterday in Jalingo during an interview with journalists alleged that the only arm of government that is functioning in the state is the executive.

“Ishaku as I speak with you has completely bought the judiciary and the legislative arm of government in the state, he has used the state government resources to render them useless, look at the recent election of Mark Usani as speaker of state house of assembly, imagine, governor Ishaku, the chief judge of the state and the speaker of the house are from the same zone, in the history of Nigeria, this kind of thing has never happened anywhere expect Taraba State” he said.

He said that the executive which is the only functioning arm of government in the state always direct the judiciary and the legislative arms of government to do their biddings.

According to him, since the appeal court verdict that nullified the election of the former Speaker, Mr. Abel Peter Diah, the house failed to elect a new speaker until few days ago when governor Ishaku directed the house to elect a speaker who came from the some local government with him.

He added that the entire process that characterized the auctioning of more than 400 government vehicles and plants was fraudulent.

He alleged that due process was not followed in the auctioning.

“The auctioneer used by the government was a licensed auctioneer and was not qualified to carry out the exercise” he said.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
