Taraba State Executive Council Lifts Ban On Employment

The Taraba State Executive Council has lifted the embargo placed on employment into the state civil service.

According to the Executive Council, the decision to lift the ban was taken, based on the draft White Paper Committee Report on the verification of transfers and employment in the State Civil Service from the month of November, 2012 to May 2015.

All members of the council accepted the White Paper Committee Recommendations and collectively agreed that in the process of engagement of staff in the service, due process should be followed through advertisement of vacancies.

They agreed on the need to take into consideration geographical spread and that all employment in the state civil service should be made on the strength of presentation of genuine education and professional certificates as against the statements of results or testimonials.

The Taraba State Executive Council also agreed on the need for all the state-owned institutions of higher learning to always provide graduates their certificate within one year of graduation.

Speaking to journalists on the outcome of the Executive Council Meeting, the Chief of Staff, Rebo Usman, said the entire council unanimously agreed that critical areas of needs to be considered during employment and transfers, so as to sustain the system.

Mr. Usman also advised employees without certificates, but currently on the state government payroll, to urgently present their genuine educational or professional certificates, so as not to be sacked.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
