World Bank Grant for Fadama III Beneficiaries in Taraba State

The Chairman, state fadama technical committee, Isaac Mela made the remarks during the national coordination office technical assistant’s visit to Taraba state.
He said the function involved town hall discussion and field visit to Fadama IIIadditional financing production cluster farms.
Isaac Mela who is also the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said due to the dwindling petroleum prices in the world today, the federal government places a high premium on agriculture which is adopted by the administration of Darius Dickson Ishaku.
He explained that because of the importance attached to the agricultural sector, the state government had settled its counterpart fund to attract world bank grant for Fadama III additional financing beneficiaries in the state.
Isaac Mela who commended the team for their visit to the state, praised the Fadama III management for the corrections observed for the benefit of farmers.
The Permanent Secretary assured that the state government would not relent in its effort to fund agricultural activities in the state to boost food production.
Commenting, the team leader, Fadama III additional national office, Ben Herbert, said they were in the state to verify activities in the state office as well as those at the farmsto ensure that they are executed accordingly to the project implementation manual and assured of timely release of fund to farmers to meet their needs.
While at the farm’s sites, Ben Herbert lauded the efforts of farmers and tasked them to adopt the agronomic practice to achieve the objective of the project aimed at preventing poverty in the society.
The team leader urged Fadama III managementto abide by the rules governing the formation of groups and disbursement of the fund.
In her speech, representative of the state project coordinator, Regina Festus assured the committee of making corrections in grey areas observed by the visiting team.

She thanked the state government for the prompt release of counterpart fund that led to a bumper harvest in the last dry season rice farming, as well as the formation of new production clusters.
She attributed the success of the project in the state to team spirit and unity of purpose among the management, support of staff as well as beneficiaries.
Farmers expressed their joy for the intervention of the Fadama III additional financing project and lauded the World Bank, federal and state government as well as the Fadama III additional funding plan for its effort in eradicating poverty and boost farming activities in the state.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
