Even when the Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC} has
not blow it whistle for the commencement of political activities,
posters of the Acting Governor of Taraba state, Alhaji Garba Umar,
signifying his readiness to ascend the number one position in the state,
come 2015 are glaringly adorning public place in the state capital.
Though always claimed that he is one hundred percent loyal to his boss, Governor Danbaba Suntai, but his body language indicated that he is toiling all paths to ousted Suntai even before the expiration of his tenure.
The posters which are visibly pasted along major roads along side with that of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as reliably gathered by LEGISREPORTS are as well lucidly available in most of the local government council headquarters in the state.
This sole action as noticed by LEGISREPORTS is presently raising dust as members of the opposition political parties are threatening to tread the same path if urgent steps are not put in place to call the Acting Governor who now surround himself with bees of heavily armed security personnel drawn from the military, SSS, Mobile Police and SARS.
It would be recall that the state government through the Ministry of Urban Planning and Environment recently gave a directive warning politicians to desist from posting posters in public place as it often deface signposts.
Though efforts by LEGISREPORTS to extract word from the commissioner of the Ministry, Danfulani Kwetaka failed, but a top staff of the Ministry confirmed that they have seen the poster some of whom he said “are very embarrassing.”
“I am happy that you decided to come down here to verify things as regarding the posters of the Acting Governor all over the streets but unfortunately, I am not the right person to comment on it. My commissioner is not on seat.”
“But all the same since you promised not to make my identity public, I must confess to you that we are really embarrassed by such act because we have early warned them {politicians} not to deface signpost, but it is very unfortunate that it is even those in power that are breaking our rules.”
The source made known to our reporter that the attention of the commissioner has been drawn:
“But of course you know that he too cannot do anything. If such posters had come from opposition parties, trust, we would have long remove them but what we can do now that they are coming from the man who is so desperate to rule.”
Attempt to also speak to the part {PDP} chairman, Victor Bala Kona failed as he was said to have travelled outside the state, but party members who bared their minds on the issue denied knowledge of the postal stating that:
“Those posters you are seeing all over are not from us. May be they are from his supporters. But even then, we expect him to caution them because INEC has not given the go-ahead for political activities. We are aware that he {Acting Governor} is very desperate of become the next governor but I don’t think displaying posters all over would give him the seat.”
“It was the posters issue we were discussing when you came in because if necessary measures are not taking, that alone can lead to the outbreak of another crisis, because members of the opposition are already making noise.”
Wondering why the Acting Governor have being so desperate even when the elected governor that is “already fit” to perform his constitutional responsibilities is on ground, the top PDP notch blamed the entire situations in the state on the lukewarm attitudes of President Jonathan, the National headquarters of the party as well as elder statesmen from the state.
A political associate to the Acting Governor who commented on the issue see nothing wrong in it revealing that the posters were not sponsored by the Acting Governor but by “Those of us who feel he has all the capacity to become the next governor of this state.”
