I’m on mission to rescue Taraba – Gov. Ishaku

The newly inaugurated governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku yesterday said he is on a mission to rescue the state from the strangleholds of socio-economic and infrastructural backwardness as well as other problems bedevilling the state.
Ishaku, who gave the assurance in his inaugural address shortly after been sworn-in by the Taraba state Chief Judge, Justice Josephine Tuktur, urged people of the state to cooperate with his administration to enable him succeed.
He said his administration will give attention to harnessing the abundant potential in agriculture, commerce and tourism, just as he promised to improve on healthcare services, environmental sanitation, education, water supply and provisions of employments for the people, amongst others.
He said the task of governance ahead of him would be enormous and daunting in view of the dire financial situation of the state, but expressed confidence in surmounting the challenges with cooperation of the people.
“I see a reality of an indebted state, I see a reality of low level of education; I see a reality of unemployment; with all these looming crises, a lot of sacrifices will be done in the days ahead. We may not begin to see result immediately but we shall and must triumph,” he said.
The inauguration was attended by dignitaries including former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha and former minister of labour, Joel Ikenya, among others.‎

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
