The need for practicing journalist in Taraba state to always cross check and balance their fact from the appropriate authorities before going to the press, has no doubt become a source of concern to the Taraba Volunteer Group (TVG}.
Treading this path, the group believed that the ethic of the noble profession would not only be catapult to the peak but would as well prevent the eruption of upheavals in the state.
Reacting to recent media publication, that accused the Secretary to the State Government {SSG}, Mr. Anthony Jellason, of refusing to identify himself with the people of his local government {Zing}, the group felt dejected at the media organization whom according to them “failed to balance their report.”
The group who made this known in a press statement that was made available to journalists in the state, beckoned at the public to disregard the publication which they believed was “sponsored by some few individuals from the area whom throughout the time they are in government failed to bring development to the area.
Citing a onetime governor whom according to the statement “could not developed the area even though he ruled the state for about ten years” the incumbent SSG, they said “has not only succeeded in bring government presence to the council, but have as well influenced a lot of projects to the area.”
The release which was signed by the group Secretary General, Charles Nyanganji, was of the view that the “only person that has brought development to the council and has continue to work round the clock to catapult Zing to the peak is this present SSG.”
Describing the report as “ false, baseless, mischievous and capable of igniting crisis in the council and in the state as a whole” the group observed that ” despite the fact that the council has produced a governor who ruled the state for about ten years, no single development was brought to the council by that governor.”
the statement reads in part ” if not now that Zing is attracting government presence, courtesy of the SSG, you will all agree with us that throughout the ten years that a Zing man governed this state, no meaningful projects was brought to the people of the area.”
They also frowned at the allegation that the state governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, doled out some amounts of money to prevent the youths of the area from protesting against the SSG, admonished the public to distant themselves from such allegation “because nothing like that ever happened.”
Believing that ” the whole thing was sponsored so as to tarnish the good Image of the SSG” who according to them “has continue to ignite development to the area” the group vowed to always stand tall in ” support of any person irrespective of religion, political party and tribe that is willing to bring development and unity to the state.”
Drumming that “the truth is that this man (SSG) has help in drawing the attention of the state government to the plights of the people of his council. Apart from the availability of portable water which he has made possible for his people, he has succeeded in bringing back the peace that has in the past eluded the people.
“So for any person or group to come out and described him as a failure, we feel such people are not being fair to the entire people of our dear state because this is the first time in the history of the state that Zing is being carry along by an elected governor, and this we can boldly said was made possible by this present SSG.”
sad that some few individuals have continue to work tirelessly round the clock to engage in acts capable of jeopardizing the peace of the area and that of the state at large, the group said ” the people of Zing council are proud of the present SSG of the state.”
The SSG, they said ” is instrumental to all the projects that were recently commissioned by the governor in Zing” stressing that ” he is working closely with the governor to see to it that his people gets all the much needed attentions.”
sad that “some persons around the corridors of power are not comfortable with the SSG because he is not the type of politicians that throw money into the drain, anybody that is against the SSG” as categorized by the group “is an enemy of progress.”
