Ishaku Denies Donation Of Land For Grazing Reserves In Taraba

Taraba State governor, Mr. Darius Ishaku has denied newspaper publication (not LEADERSHIP) that the state government donated 55, 000 hectares of land to federal government for grazing reserves in the state.

Ishaku, who spoke to journalists yesterday in Jalingo through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Slyvanus Yakubu Giwa said the state was not among the 11 states of the federation that donated 55,000 hectares of land each for the implementation of the federal government programme on grazing reserves.

“The publication in a national daily newspaper of third June, 2016 was credited to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief AuduOgbe that Taraba State was among the 11 states of the federation that donated 55, 000 hectares of land each for the implementation of federal government programme for grazing reserves” he said.

He noted that the 11 states according to the publication include Adamawa, Gombe, Plateau, Kaduna, Kastina, Kano, Taraba, Niger, Sokoto, Jigawa and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, respectively.

He explained that in order to put the records straight, Taraba State government wishes to state that in as much as the state appreciates the need for the creation of conducive environment for all categories of agricultural and pastoral activities, there is need for proper collaboration between states and federal government.

“In this case, there has been no discussion between the Taraba State government and the officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the plan to provide land for grazing reserves,” he added.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
