Jimkuta’s Classmates Dispute Allegations Over Secondary School Credentials

Former classmates of Senator David Jimkuta, who say they graduated with him from Government Secondary School (GSS), Wukari, in 2000, have disputed allegations that the senator submitted forged secondary school certificates.

The classmates said the school’s official records could be examined by relevant authorities or any interested party seeking to verify Jimkuta’s academic history.

Their comments followed a petition reportedly submitted by retired Major General A.T. Ibrahim to the All Progressives Congress (APC), in which he called for Jimkuta’s disqualification over allegations relating to his NECO certificates and declarations made to the party and other authorities.

The allegations contained in the petition have not been independently established in this report.

Speaking on the matter, Mr. Haruna Magaji and Galeya Gembo said Jimkuta was a member of their 2000 graduating set at GSS Wukari.

According to them, they revisited the school and examined available records following the allegations. They said Jimkuta’s name appears as number 98 on the school’s list of students who graduated in 2000.

The former classmates therefore urged Major General Ibrahim and other interested parties to consult the school’s records and verify the relevant information before reaching conclusions about Jimkuta’s academic credentials.

They maintained that, based on their recollection and their examination of the school records, Jimkuta graduated alongside them from GSS Wukari in 2000.

The dispute over the authenticity of the senator’s credentials remains a matter for the appropriate authorities to examine and determine based on the relevant records and evidence.
