Wukari Health Centre in Disrepair Raises Questions Over Government Priorities

Concerns have been raised over the condition of Jibu Health Centre in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, following the circulation of a video showing the facility in a reportedly dilapidated state.

Reacting to the video, a Taraba indigene, Ibrahim Bambur, expressed disappointment over what he described as the neglect of a primary healthcare facility meant to serve residents of the area. He questioned how communities could be expected to access quality healthcare when basic health facilities are allowed to deteriorate.

Bambur also criticised the state government’s spending priorities, drawing a comparison between the condition of health facilities and the planned Wukari flyover project. He questioned whether greater attention should be given to healthcare infrastructure, drugs, medical personnel and other basic services that directly affect residents.

He further argued that many ordinary residents may derive more immediate benefit from functional hospitals and health centres than from major road infrastructure projects.

The criticism comes amid broader calls for improved healthcare delivery across Taraba State. Bambur said the condition of the Jibu Health Centre should prompt the government to reassess its priorities and take urgent steps to restore the facility.

He concluded by saying that the people of Wukari and Taraba State deserve better healthcare services and accountable leadership.
