Nigeria Health Taraba State Planning to recruit 20 Doctors

The Acting Governor of Taraba, Alhaji Garba Umar, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Mr Mathias Danazumi on Friday, said the state government plans to employ 20 medical doctors in its bid to boost healthcare services to its citizens.

He disclosed this in Jalingo at the opening ceremony of the 2013 Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Week/Dinner. He said the recruitment became inevitable as there are inadequate number of medical personnel in the health facilities across the state.

Umar also announced that the newly constructed Takum General Hospital would be inaugurated on Dec. 19.

He said the hospital was set for operations as drugs and other essential facilities had been procured. He also commended members of the NMA for their selfless services to the people, adding that Taraba would continue to partner with them for effective healthcare service delivery to the people.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NMA in the state, Dr Wada Sani, said NMA had recently provided free medical services to more than 400 patients at Bambur area and it would always be ready to provide door-to-door services to the poor, especially those living in rural areas.

He commended the state government and all the philanthropists who contributed financially and otherwise toward the successful organisation of the 2013 Physician’s Week.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
