Ishaku Denies Victimisation Of Civil Servants In Taraba

Taraba State Governor, Arch Darius Ishaku has denied allegations by the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that his administration is currently victimizing civil servants who voted for APC in the last general elections.

Ishaku, who spoke to journalists yesterday in Jalingo through his senior special adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Slyvanus Giwa said no civil servant in Taraba is victimised by virtue of his or her affiliations with any political party in the state.

“Although the law does not permit civil servants to be partisan and belong to political parties, but any civil servant working for Taraba State Government who has evidence should prove otherwise,” he said.

He explained that what the APC claimed that civil servants were being victimized are politics of religion, ethnicity and divisive sentiments.

Ishaku said the APC is making a huge mistake, stressing that government has been resolutely liberal, embracing and accommodating all classes of people and creating no division in any way.

He added that in claiming that there is blanket restriction of movement of people into the state against their constitutional rights, the APC has misconstrued the good intentions of government.

According to the governor, any responsible government will do all it can to protect and preserve lives and property of its citizens.

“This is a critical time that Taraba is struggling to overcome internal security challenges occasioned by attacks from faceless armed groups on innocent people.‎

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
