Gov. Ishaku refutes reports on Taraba's IDPs, security

The governor of Taraba state Darius Ishaku has expressed deep concern over the recent sensational reports particularly on security matters in the state by some media houses.

The governor who spoke through his senior special assistant on media and publicity Mr. Sylvanus Giwa lamented that recent report by some media houses was capable of discouraging the return of the Internal Displaced Persons, IDPs who were affected by last year’s communal crisis.

Giwa stated this while speaking with journalist in his office at Government House in Jalingo the Taraba state capital.

The governor frowned at the unverifiable report by a journalist in the state that the IDPs who were returning to their various homes in the state were not guaranteed security .

“The reporter said there were no security measures put in place to guarantee the return of the IDPs. But all eyes here in the state are watching and are in know to what extent the governor is providing security not just for the IDPs, but to all citizens in the state”

Giwa further stated that since his assumption, the governor has released all the arsenals inrelation to security so as to ensure that all tribes and ethnics in the state coexisted in peace and as well see to rehabilitation of IDPs into their various homes.

“Governor Ishaku has been engaging the security agencies in fighting crime and communal clashes, also spending so much time to dialogue with stakeholders on security matters, he vow that whoever breaches peace has no place to stay in Taraba and that has been his stand”

Giwa said the governor has promised to respect and partner with responsible journalist to develop the state. He avowed that the governor would not hesitate to take legal action against any report that is capable of coursing disunity among the people in Taraba state.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
