FLOOD: 50 Houses, Farmlands Destroyed In Taraba ‎

No fewer than 50 houses and farmlands have been destroyed by flood in three local government areas of Taraba State.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP yesterday in Jalingo, the executive secretary of the state emergency management agency (SEMA), Mr. Nuvalga Dan Abuh said that incident has destroyed household items belonging to the victims.

He stressed that over 50 farmlands and farm produce worth millions of naira had also been destroyed by the flood.

He noted that the flood incident occurred in Lau, Karm-Lamido and a part of Ibi local government areas of the state.

According to him, the flood incident was attributed to release of water from Lagdo Dam by the Republic of Cameroon.

He stressed that government had already evacuated affected persons to IDP camps set up to settle displaced persons in case of any flood disaster in the state.

He added that the state government had provided immediate relief assistance to the victims before succour would from the relevant authorities, and donor agencies.

Tinubu approve reconstruction of Numan-Jalingo, Mutum Biyu–Garba Chede, Mayo Selbe–Gembu roads

Kefas Bans Livestock Rearing in Residential Areas of Jalingo, Imposes ₦50,000 Fine

The Taraba State Government has banned the rearing of animals in residential areas and other parts of Jalingo, the state capital, as part of efforts to tackle environmental nuisance, safeguard public health, and maintain a cleaner and more orderly city. The government also warned that anyone found violating the directive will face an immediate fine of ₦50,000. Chairman of the Taraba State Environmental Sanitation Agency (TSESA), Mr. Iliya Kefas, announced the ban during the state's monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Jalingo.
