New Taraba CP Vows to Rid State of Criminals

Newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Mr. Ekechukwu Nwodibo, has expressed his preparedness to wage war relentlessly against armed robbers and other criminal elements in his bid to rid the state of crime.

The CP, who disclosed this while addressing Senior Police Officers (SPO) in his command at the state’s police headquarters in Jalingo upon his resumption of office warned all criminals in the state to leave and relocate or face the full wrath of the law.

Similarly, the police boss warned officers and men of the command who engage in corrupt practices to desist from such acts saying whoever  is caught engaging in corruption would be severely dealt with in line with internal mechanisms and control.

He stated that rather than wait for criminals to commit the crime, police in the state under his watch would take the battle to the doorstep of criminals to dislodged them and prevent the occurrence of criminal acts across the state.

According to him: “I have a message for all criminals in Taraba State and my message to them is to desist from their criminal acts or leave the state completely and relocate to any other state because Taraba would no longer be safe for them.

“We shall not just sit down and wait for them to commit crime but we shall take the battle to their doorstep and ensure they’re completely routed out of the state. It will no longer be business as usual,” he stated.

To drive home his resolve to tackle corruption among the officers and men of the command, Nwodibo issued a stern warning to them not to attempt bringing money or other inducements to him stressing that whoever does that would find himself on the other side of the law.

He further tasked journalists and other members of the public to forward the names and particulars of any policeman collecting money on highways to his office for necessary disciplinary action just as he disclosed that the provost department and the anti-fraud unit would be strengthened to arrest officers indulging in extortion.

He however assured officers and men of the command that their welfare would be taken very seriously and it would be paramount to him just as he noted that as long as they’re committed to their jobs, they would be adequately motivated, to discharge their duties diligently and professionally.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management.
