The additional deaths bring the number of persons that have died in the state as a result of Lassa fever to 12.
The
Head of Clinical Services in the center, Dr. Attah Iliya, also
disclosed that 44 suspected cases were received at the center out of
which four were confirmed to be Lassa fever.
He also said that seven patients suspected to have contracted the virus have disappeared from the hospital.
Dr Attah said effort was being made to trace the patients and bring them back for treatment.
He disclosed that 19 Lassa fever patients were treated and clinically confirmed free of the fever in the center.
Earlier on January 5, the center confirmed that of three persons died as a result ofthe fever.
