Retired SSS officer abducted by gunmen in Taraba

Mr Hosea Danjuma who is a retired officer of the State Security Service (SSS) was abducted today at his residence in Baisa, headquarters of the Kurmi LGA in Taraba.

This was confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by the Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Mr Steven Agya. He said, “Yes, Danjuma was kidnapped around 1:47 a.m. on Tuesday by unknown gunmen at his residence in Baisa. We have mobilised youths of the area to team up with security agents to comb the entire area so as to rescue him.”

The Police Public Relations Officer of Taraba state, DSP Joseph Kwaji also confirmed the abduction and assured that a Siegal squad had been deployed to rescue Danjuma.
A family member of the abducted retired officer, Miss Adams Danjuma informed the news agency that the gunmen who abducted Danjuma had destroyed their back gate to gain entrance into the house. She added that the abductors who used motorcycles,  were quite violent and threatened to kill anyone who got in their way.
This abduction is the second in the period of one month as two weeks ago, the mother of the Deputy Governor of the state, Hajiya Beli Manu, was also kidnapped but then later released.
