Villagers demolish houses of suspected kidnappers in Taraba

Three houses belonging to suspected kidnappers have been demolished by irate villagers at Tella village in Gassol Local government area of Taraba state.

Daily Trust gathered that four suspected kidnappers that had terrorized the area were also arrested by the villagers led by vigilante and handed over to the police.

The suspects were arrested when a victim who was later rescued leaked the location where the kidnappers used to keep their victims to vigilantes.

Millions of Naira and guns were reportedly recovered from the kidnappers’ hide out.

The villagers went violent when they heard about the discovery of their hide out, Daily Trust learnt.

Spokesman of the Taraba state police command DSP Joseph Kwaji said he could not confirm the report as the police was investigating the matter.

Kwaji however said only one suspected kidnapper was arrested at Tella village and an SMG riffle recovered from the suspect.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
