T. Y Danjuma Foundation Begins Free Cleft Surgical Operation In Taraba

A non governmental organization known as Cleft and Facial Deformity Foundation (CFDF) in conjunction with TY Danjuma Foundation has began free surgical operation for people with cleft and facial problems in Taraba.

The free medical programme was put in place in the last five years to take care of the less privileged who cannot afford the high cost of surgical treatment in the hospitals.

The voluntary medical team were in Taraba, the state capital to carry out the free surgical treatment for those who have different cases of deformities.

Speaking, the chief medical director of the Taraba State Specialist Hospital, Dr Joel Remande lauded the collaborative effort of the foundations in embarking on the humanitarian services to the people of the state.

Earlier, the team leader, Dr. Seidu Bello said facial deformity are in different categories: locked jaw, facial clefts and facial tumour.

He stressed that all these endeformities have some things in common such as stigmatisation, decimation of children’s potential, societal dislocation and children out of school syndrome.

He said that the foundation is not relenting in sensitizing Nigerians about the scourge of the deformity and disease as well as promotion of well based research on the curative measures to tackle the the scourge.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
