Ishaku signs Taraba 2016 Budget into law

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has sign the state 2016 appropriation bill into law with a promise to give priority to Agriculture and improve the state income as well as create jobs for the unemployed youths from the state.

The governor who signed the bill at the executive chambers of the government house in Jalingo also restated his administration’s commitments to ensure that the people enjoy the benefits of democracy despite the nation’s dwindling economy.

He said the state was heavily endowed with natures gift and agricultural opportunities which if properly funded would generate massive employments and income for the state.

“We has a vast land that we can turn into fortunes such that our youths will be gainfully employed, now that the House has passed the 2016 budget, we shall focus on the projected areas that would help us rescue the state for good”

It will be recalled that the governor on 23rd of December 2015 presented an appropriation bill of 26,081,789,535.00 to the State House of Assembly.

The House after series of deliberations and consultations with executive jack up the total projection up to 100,874,913,855.00. from the amount earlier presented by the governor.

While answering questions on why the 2016 budget was jacked up by the Assembly, the governor responded that the jack up was as a result of omissions that existed while the budget was earlier presented at the house.

“There were omissions at the time we presented the budget earlier at the House, while deliberations and consultations some areas that were not captured and were therefore identified and instead of allowing them to come into supplementary budget we decided that the House should include the areas now and that was why we are having the budget been jack up to the level” Ishaku responded.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
