Governor Ishaku, while swearing
in the new Justices at the Exco Chambers of the Government
House,Jalingo, described the event as critical and significant due to
the fundamental role of the judiciary in stabilizing the polity and
rendering justice to the society.
He
stated that, the appointments of Dauda Njenne Buba, Ali Bappa Abbare
and Badamosi Aliyu Muhammed was purely based on merit having been
nominated, screened and approved by both State and National Judicial
Service Commission.
He expressed optimism
that the three Justices will uphold and abide strictly by the tenets of
the Judiciary,according to the laws of the land devoid of nepotism and
all forms of prejudice and ensure quick dispensation of justice.
Accordingly, the Governor said by the
powers conferred on him by section 271, sub section 2 of 1999
Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, appointed
Badamosi Aliyu Mohammed as Khadi of Sharia Court of Appeal Taraba,while
Dauda Njenne Buba and Ali Bappa Abbare as Justices of Taraba High Court.
Governor Darius Ishaku declared that, the appointments
is with effect from Saturday, 26th March, 2016. He reminded the
Justices of the critical role they play in the society urging them to be
fair at all times.
He used the opportunity to remind
them that as adjudicators of law, their punishment before God is always
different, adding that it has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt,
that Justices who were fair in the discharge of their Judicial
responsibilities retire happily and live longer on earth.
Earlier in her brief speech, the
Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Josephine Tuktur said this is the
first time Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku is swearing in higher Judicial
Officers since he became the Governor of the state.
Josephine Tuktur said all the
Officers before him have fulfilled both State and National Judicial
Service Commission requirements and are therefore ready to take the Oath
of Office.
Responding on behalf of his
Colleagues, Justice Dauda Buba appreciated the Governor for finding
them worthy to serve as Justices of the State High Court and assured
him that they will discharge their duties diligently and responsibly.
Justice Dauda Buba stated that
Taraba State Judiciary is one of the best in the North East, stressing
that they will bring their wealth of experience to bear.
