Primary school teachers begin warning strike over unpaid salaries

The Taraba State branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) yesterday said primary school teachers would begin a three-day warning strike today for the non-payment of three months of their salary, among other grievances.
The Chairman of the union, Alhaji Aliyu Mafindi, disclosed this at a press  briefing in Jalingo, saying the outstanding salaries were for the months of March, April and May this year, adding that the state government’s attitude on welfare of teachers was poor. “Teachers in Taraba State public primary schools  will embark on a three-day warning strike starting from tomorrow, May 31, 2016 to June 2, 2016, to press home our demands,’’ the NUT chairman said.
