TY Danjuma Foundation, ACCIF To Train 55 IDPs On Skills Acquisition

Fifty-five internally displaced women and youth will be trained in the second phase of a six-month skills acquisition programme organised by an NGO and T.Y. Danjuma Foundation.
The T.Y. Danjuma Foundation, in conjunction with All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF) will train 25 IDPs from Kuchigoro, Abuja camp in shoe-making, 20 in tailoring and 10 in welding technology.
Speaking at the one-day orientation held in Abuja for Pegi and Kuchigoro IDPs camp, the director of ACCIF, Barr. Ranti B. Daudu said the “success story” recorded in 2015 when 36 persons were trained from Pegi IDPs camp was a motivation to repeat the program at the Kuchigoro camp.
She explained that each vocation would have two trainers and all the trainees would be provided with materials and lunch during the course of the training.
She added that start-up equipment would be provided at the end of the training in addition to the entrepreneurial class that is being put in place “where they will be taught business and management skills on how to effectively manage their business afterwards.”
T.Y. Danjuma foundation grants and partnership officer, Mr. Gima Forge said they are happy to commit their resources with ACCIF and that they hope the IDPs empowered can eventually empower others.
He added that the foundation has expended over N200 million on IDPs welfare, training and empowerment across the country and that over N25 million has been utilized on the Pegi and Kuchigoro camps.
The village head of Kuchigoro community Ibrahim Wambe enjoined the trainees to take the programme seriously so that they can contribute to the development of Nigeria, adding that they should draw inspirations from their teachers who were product of T.Y. Danjuma foundation empowerment programme.
Aisha Wara, a 24-year old mother of two, who enrolled in the tailoring class said she expects that after the program she would be able to start a seamstress shop which would enable her pay her bills and contribute in taking care of her family.
She said she hopes to go back to her home in the North-East when peace returns and having a vocation would enable her rebuild her life.
She enjoined the foundations to continue their good work so that other people can also be empowered.‎

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
