Gov. Ishaku Vows To Crackdown On Troublemakers

Taraba State governor, Mr. Darius Dickson Ishaku, has vowed to deal decisively with anyone who may decide to foment trouble following the outcome of the appeal court ruling that declared him duly elected.

Ishaku who spoke to journalists yesterday in Jalingo shortly after he returned from Abuja to the state said he would wield the big stick against troublemakers, stressing that the last kangaroo judgement by the Taraba State Election Petitions Tribunal that ordered him to vacate office cost the state a number of lives and properties.

“The crisis that erupted in Wukari and its environs were caused by the lower court ruling that sacked me earlier, and now that the appellate court has revised that bias verdict, it is good we put our trust in God and stop jubilating over the victory to forestall the breakdown of law and order,” he said.

He noted that the peace of the state was more paramount than his personal interest, adding that his administration would continue to kick against any act that will cause the state to lose more lives.

“I have severally asked the people of the state to give peace a chance and I will give them development. I have come to work in Taraba and without peace, there is no way we can succeed in our dream to rescue our dear state,” he said.

According to him, the appellate court’s judgement that reversed the tribunal judgement that nullified his electoral victory few months ago, was an indication that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
