The Taraba State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Alhaji Aliyu Jauro Mafindi, has decried the current situation in which primary school teachers in state go to work without being paid their salaries.
Mafindi, who stated this yesterday in Jalingo during an interview with journalists, gave the state government a three- day ultimatum to settle the salaries of the primary school teachers.
“We are, indeed, giving the giving the present administration that has promised to rescue the state, three working days to settle the salaries it is owing our primary school teachers or wait for our next line of action.
“During the Christmas period, the state government paid workers but skipped primary school teachers,” he said.
He stressed that NUT will not tolerate anymore, that teachers cannot continue to work without salary.
“During our round table discussion with government last time, we told them of what to do, but we wonder why they are finding it difficult to keep to our agreement,” he said.
He explained that the worst harm any state government could cause their workers was to deny them of their salary.
Taraba Has Highest Number Of IDPs- Aide
The senior special adviser to Governor Darius Ishaku on media and publicity, Mr Slyvanus Yakubu Giwa, has said that Taraba State has the highest number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the country.
