| Jalingo uncompleted Main Central Mosque |
The 12th
and current Emir of Muri-His Royal Highness (HRH), Alh. Abbas Njidda
Tafida (OFR) initiated and largely sponsored the on-going Jalingo Main
Central Mosque project about 26 years ago in 1988 (when he was barely
few months old on the throne) and by mid 1990 (less than 2 years), the
project reached about 90% completion level but which, unfortunately,
remain so till date. The mosque project has now gone down on record as
one of the longest (if not the longest) uncompleted mosque projects in
the country having being in this condition for the last 24 years even
with only about 10% of work remaining.
As at now, works that are required for the project to be 100% completed
include the completion of paintings, electrical works and furnishing,
interior and exterior decoration, construction of toilet facilities,
standardization of the water supply and distribution systems,
construction of a car-parking arena, as well as expansion and general
landscaping of the mosque premises.
The task should be seen as a call in the service of Islam and it is
quite important to commence preliminary consultations on the mosque
project without further delay in the hope of completing all outstanding
works on the mosque in the months ahead and commission it on or before
the first Jumma’at of this year’s (1437 AH/2016 AD,) Ramadan fast (which
is merely few months away) as the first stage of preparations for the
fast-approaching Muri @ 200 celebrations.
In the light of this, you are all requested/recommended to rush and
emulate the “muhajirun” and “ansar” by putting hands together to ensure
100% completion of Jalingo Main Central Mosque project so as to be
counted among the beneficiaries of Allah’s special favors both here and
hereafter.
It is also recommend to the Muri Emirate Council (MEC), the need for
setting-up of Contact and Mobilization Committee in respect of Jalingo
Main Central Mosque project as first step towards facilitating its
completion within a reasonable time-frame.
