“Enforce the Law Banning Motorcycle Operations”; Gov. Ishaku Tells Security Agencies



Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has again directed security agencies in the state to enforce the law banning the operation of all categories of motorcycles in the state capital.

This was contained in a Press Release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Elder Iliya Bekyu Akweh.

It states that the Governor emphasised the need for the security agencies to spread their dragnet and arrest violators of the order including security agents who are not only contravening the law but conniving with criminal elements to undermine government’s good intentions.

That the Governor pointed out that unless the violators of the order are arrested and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law, the wave of criminality would continue to rise in the society.

Accordingly, Mile 6, Sabo Gari, ATC, Nukkai, Jauro-Yinu, Roadblock to Kona, Hammaruwa, Barde, Jolly Nyame ways, Specialist Hospital road, Mallam Joda, Abuja Phase one and two, Angwan Kassa, Sabon Layi and the Suburbs of the state capital were listed as the major places to be covered by security operatives to enforce the order.

According to the Governor, the state government has not exempted any individual or organisation from the ban, insisting that no culprit should be spared and operators of motorcycles were not only constituting themselves into nuisance in the society but were now promoters of criminal activities in the state.

It states that the Governor cautioned the people of the state on the need for them to be aware of the influx of non indigenes in their midst especially criminal elements who have infiltrated the state with the sole aim to distabilize the existing peace and that those identified should be exposed to the law enforcement agencies for necessary action.

He stressed the need for security operatives to ensure periodic visits to hotels, brothels, beer parlours, recreational centres, motor parks, markets among others to rid the state of criminality.

Similarly, the stipulated official approved period for operators of tricycles otherwise called keke napep in Jalingo metropolis and its suburbs still continues and in view of the foregoing, Governor Ishaku directed the operators to ensure strict compliance with the order or have themselves to blame.

The Governor further emphasised the need for security operatives to seriously extend the stop and search of motorists to the operators of keke napep to avert any impending evil plot against the state.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
