I’m not afraid of constructive criticisms – IshakuThe Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has said that he welcomes any criticism from the media since such was constructive and based on facts, and in line with the ethics of journalism profession.
Ishaku disclosed this on Monday at Takum during a luncheon with members of the state’s Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
According to the governor, journalism could only thrive if the practitioners were bold enough to criticise bad programmes and policies of the government.
He said: “Be fearless to criticise my administration’s policies and programmes, provided you have your facts. I am not afraid of constructive criticism. I urge you to see yourselves as positive contributors, co-workers and partners in progress in the Rescue Taraba Mission, and not antagonists.
“If, I make a decision that you deem not alright, you can share with me your opinion, so that together, we can work as brothers and sisters for the development of the state.”
Ishaku said his government had provided portable drinking water and steady electricity supply to the state since his inauguration in May, urging the people of the state to be patient as the state government was doing everything possible to improve their living conditions.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
