Taraba: ‘Appellate Court ‘ll Revise Tribunal’s Judgement’

The senior special adviser to Taraba State governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Slyvanus Yakubu Giwa, has said that the appellate court would soon revise the verdict of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal that ordered Governor Darius Ishaku to vacate office.
Giwa, who stated this yesterday in Jalingo during an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP said the tribunal’s judgement has cast shadow of despair on the nation’s democratic journey and must not be allowed to stand in any way.
According to him “The recent tribunal’s judgement was aimed at stealing the victory given to the PDP by the people through the legal process to ingratiate the APC,” he said.
He added that instead of focusing on pure figures, which put the PDP far ahead, the tribunal went into technicalities to subvert the will of the people.
He stressed that the issue of Ishaku not being properly nominated as candidate in the last election did not dilute the popularity of Governor Ishaku, adding that the case of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State was worse than that of Ishaku, yet he is being favoured because he is an APC candidate.
He said that Tarabans and indeed Nigerians are watching the political trend in the state, adding that selective justice is not the change President Muhammadu Buhari promised Nigerians.
The media aide expressed hope that the Appeal Court will quash the judgement and restore the people’s victory which they overwhelmingly gave to Ishaku at the polls.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
