Makarfi-led PDP Faction Moves To Open Office In Jalingo

The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP has concluded plans to open a parallel office in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Our correspondent reports that the state PDP office in Jalingo in under the control of loyalists of the embattled national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.

A member of the Senator Makarfi-led state working committee, Malam Ahmed Bala Gassol, who disclosed this in an interview in Jalingo, yesterday, said their faction has the support of majority of PDP members in the state.

He said Sheriff's faction was losing ground because of lack of internal democracy.

Gassol explained that members of the party in the state were not satisfied with the way Sheriff conducted the state congresses in Taraba, alleging that popular candidates were prevented from contesting.

However, the state chairman of the party, Mr. Victor Bala Kona, said as far as he was concerned, the PDP had no faction in state.

Kona said the party had conducted its congresses from the ward to the state level, in accordance with laid down guidelines enshrined in the PDP Constitution, saying the process was supervised by the INEC resident commissioner in the state.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
