Taraba PDP using police to harass pro-Makarfi supporters in Jalingo

Taraba state PDP Chairman Victor Bala Kona has petitioned the state Police Command against supporters of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state.

Officers of the Nigerian Police Force in Jalingo have begin to harass and intimidate supporters of the Makarfi-led faction of the Party in through frivolous petitions.

A member of the Senator Makarfi-led state steering committee, Malam Ahmed Bala Gassol and five others was invited to the state police command headquarters in Jalingo for questioning.

Gassol who was at the Police Headquarters on Monday, was asked to write a statement without been briefed on the content of the petition.

Gassol was detained for some hours on the instruction of Governor Dairus Ishaku and the State PDP Chairman Victor Bala Kona before been granted bail under frustrating conditions.

He said the Police had asked them to report to the station on Thursday 8am for further questioning.

Police officers told Gassol and five other that their detention was ordered from above.

The police invitation is coming after the Makarfi-led faction of the PDP has concluded plans to open a parallel party secretariat in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
