Federal High Court Jalingo Dismisses Suit Challenging Sadiq Tafida’s APC Candidacy

The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba State, has dismissed a suit challenging the emergence of Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency. The suit was filed by Hon. Adamu Boduga, who had challenged the process that produced Tafida as the party’s candidate.

In its ruling, the court dismissed the suit and upheld the legal position surrounding Tafida’s emergence as the APC candidate for the constituency. The court also awarded the sum of ₦2 million as costs against the plaintiff, Hon. Adamu Boduga.

The development clears another legal hurdle for Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida ahead of the election, while the ruling represents a setback for the plaintiff’s challenge to his candidacy.

Jukun militia kills five Tiv farmers, injures woman in fresh attack

In Spite of interventions by stakeholders to broker peace between the Tiv and Jukun in Benue and Taraba states, five persons have been killed in fresh attacks on Gyenku in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The Guardian learnt that the Jukun attacked farms to kill the victims.Confirming the incidence, Caretaker Chairman of Ukum Council, Tor-Tyokaa Iberlogo said five persons were killed on their farms, while a woman was seriously injured and is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
