Floods, Windstorms Ravage 7 Taraba LGAs – TSEMA

The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) has reported widespread destruction caused by floods, windstorms and other disasters across seven LGAs: Donga, Gassol, Bali, Ussa, Kurmi, Karim Lamido and Sardauna. Several homes, farmlands and infrastructure were damaged, while some residents were displaced.

Meanwhile, TSEMA has distributed food and other relief materials to people displaced by communal violence in Adamawa State who are taking refuge in Lau LGA of Taraba. The agency urged residents in flood-prone areas to move to safer locations and assured affected communities of continued government support.

Jukun militia kills five Tiv farmers, injures woman in fresh attack

In Spite of interventions by stakeholders to broker peace between the Tiv and Jukun in Benue and Taraba states, five persons have been killed in fresh attacks on Gyenku in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The Guardian learnt that the Jukun attacked farms to kill the victims.Confirming the incidence, Caretaker Chairman of Ukum Council, Tor-Tyokaa Iberlogo said five persons were killed on their farms, while a woman was seriously injured and is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
