Taraba Hunters’ Leader Killed in Clash With Suspected Bandits

Shuayibu Danladi Ciroma, a hunters’ leader and member of the Forest Guard Corps in Andamin community, Karim-Lamido LGA, Taraba State, has been killed in a gunfight with suspected bandits. He reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to his leg while responding to intelligence about a planned attack on the community and later died from blood loss.

Community leader Tanko Bobbo Andamin called on the Taraba State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity, which he said had disrupted farming, trading and other economic activities. The police command said poor network connectivity had prevented its spokesperson from obtaining details from the divisional police officer.

Jukun militia kills five Tiv farmers, injures woman in fresh attack

In Spite of interventions by stakeholders to broker peace between the Tiv and Jukun in Benue and Taraba states, five persons have been killed in fresh attacks on Gyenku in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The Guardian learnt that the Jukun attacked farms to kill the victims.Confirming the incidence, Caretaker Chairman of Ukum Council, Tor-Tyokaa Iberlogo said five persons were killed on their farms, while a woman was seriously injured and is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
