Chairman of the local government, Mr. Stephen Agya has said.Speaking in Jalingo during a reception in his honour by Kurmi youth forum, Agya, who is also the state Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, disclosed that the council would not relent in improving its IGR.
Already the council, the chairman informed has executed visible projects with the IGR, which he noted was generated from various economic activities within the short period of three months.
The Chairman revealed that, “We have so far used the IGR to construct Ndaforo Bridge, undertook major repairs on Marraba-Baisa-Abong road and rehabilitated Takum-Nyidokufai -Gatering -Bissaula federal road among others.”
According to him, the council has prioritised road rehabilitation to boost economic activities as he informed that the people were largely rural farmers who needed access road to take their produce to the market for sale.
The huge agricultural and mineral resources of the council, Agya insisted, would be exploited to achieve developmental goals for the benefit of all.
He commended Governor Darius Ishaku for given him the opportunity he had been yearning for over the years to serve his people.
While pledging to continue to be prudent with the resources of the council the chairman noted that it was a sure way of making positive changes in the living standard of his people.
In a paper presentation on Constitution and the local government councils, Justice Silas Haruna called for complete autonomy for the councils in the country to foster development.
