Taraba To Allocate N100m To Hope Health Rehabilitation Centre

Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba has said that the state government would allocate N100 million to the Hope Health and Rehabilitation Centre, Jalingo to enhance its operations.

Ishaku disclosed this during the one year anniversary of the rehabilitation centre in Jalingo on Tuesday.

Concise learned the centre is a unit of the Hope Afresh Foundation, a pet project of the governor’s wife, Mrs. Anna Ishaku.

“Thank God, the speaker of the house of assembly is well represented here; the director of budgetary allocation is also here.

“’On my part, I am going to do everything humanly possible to ensure that the centre is included in the annual budgetary allocation of the state, and I will start with N100 million.”

Ishaku, who lamented the high level of drug abuse by the youths in the state, said that the health centre had rehabilitated many youths that were engaged in the illicit act.

“You will not know the level of destruction drug abuse can do to a family until it happens to you.

“As governor, I receive cases of drug abuse everyday. I have tabled the case before the state security council,” he said.

He thanked his wife for the intervention had made massive impact, adding that a plot of land had been allocated for the health centre inside the premises

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
