Police in Jalingo, Taraba State, have arrested two Igbo women for allegedly attempting to traffic three girls, aged 5–6, from Taraba to Adamawa State.
The suspects reportedly lured the girls from their homes by telling their mothers they were taking them to the market. Instead, they took the children to a motor park and boarded a vehicle to Adamawa.
The driver became suspicious after noticing that the girls did not resemble the women and alerted his union members, who contacted the police. The suspects were subsequently arrested at a filling station.
The women had reportedly rented a room near the girls’ parents about two weeks earlier. Police confirmed the arrests and said investigation is ongoing.
