The vice chancellor Federal university Wukari in Taraba state,Professor Abubakar Musa Kundiri, has advised primary school teachers in Taraba state to be extra vigilant in the face of security challenges facing the state.
He said it has become necessary for all teachers in primary and post primary schools in Taraba and the entire North- East sub region to be security conscious to protect their school environment against criminal elements.
Professor Musa Kundiri gave the advise while declaring open a workshop organized by Presidential Initiative on North- East for teachers under Universal Primary Basic education in the state at the university in Wukari.
He further advised the 600 teachers drawn from various primary schools across the 16 local government areas of the state to use the knowledge they acquire during workshop seriously and always be on the alert in order to protect the lives of children put in their trust.
“In view of the serious security challenges the nation is facing and the security challenges in the North- East primary school teachers must always be alert and security conscious” the Vice Chancellor advised.
In his address, the programme Coordinator, Dr. Don John Omale, of Sociology Department, in the institution, said the workshop would centre on the security of teachers and pupils in North-East and Nigeria in general, in view of the incessant kidnappings and threats posed by Boko – Haram and criminal elements
