NEWSAPC governorship candidate advises Taraba youths against thuggery


All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Taraba State, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi, yesterday advised youths in the state not to allow themselves to be recruited as political thugs by selfish politicians.
Danladi gave the advice in Jalingo while addressing thousands of party suppers at a rally to kick-start his campaign for the 2019 elections
He said youths were vital tools for the development of any country if engaged in positive ways, but could also be put to destructive use if not properly guided.
The governorship candidate, who was a former acting governor of the state, expressed dismay over the level of political thuggery by youths that were supposed to be in school or gainfully employed.
He said the trend, if not quickly checked, may pose serious danger to democracy not only in the state, but in the country.
Danladi accused the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of recruiting and funding youths as thugs.
He advised youths to be careful and stay away from politicians who would not encourage them to go to school or give them employment, but rather use them as thugs, saying such politicians do not mean well for them.
“Look carefully, you will never see the children of such politicians moving around political rallies as thugs, but it is you the children of the poor that are used as thugs ”
“If the children of the rich and powerful politicians graduate from schools, they get employment quickly, but you will not be given any job to do as the case in our state now,” Danladi said.
He also advised parents to keep watch on their children and wards and help them to stay away from selfish politicians.
The APC candidate, however, promised to give employment to youths in the state if voted into office, pointing out that part of his blueprint was mass scholarship to all deserving students in the state.
Reacting to the accusation, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Darius on Media Affairs, Mr. Bala Dan Abu, said the accusation against the state about encouraging thuggery was false and was intended to secure cheap political points.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management.
