Taraba students union absolves self from protest

Students from the Taraba State University have disassociated themselves from a protest that occurred at the institution on Monday.
The students distanced themselves through a statement jointly signed by Isa Inuwa, Shata Maikyau and Udi Aluta, the leaders of the union.
"We are not in support of the protest that is been organized, that it was done without the concern of the Union, and that even if we wants to hold a protest we will justify our corse. We call on the entire student of Taraba State University to please stay away from it, as we are not aware and have inform the security agencies of our unawareness of this act," the statement read.
The students' leaders said the protest was organized by those that are not from the institution and called on the students of institution to keep calm. They also expressed confidence on the current state government to resolve the ongoing strike action by the University.
"We have faith in the government of the day that it will call off the strike. We urge the process to be a bit stepped as we have stayed long at home, and hope to resume studies shortly. We plead with the Government to please come to terms with the ASUU so that they can go back to school."

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
