Violence in Taraba caused by land dispute not religion – Muslim Council

Kano-violence-1-300x210The Chairman, Muslim Council in Taraba, Alhaji Inuwa Manu, has urged Muslim faithful to use the Ramadan to demonstrate love and peaceful coexistence among different religious adherents in the state.
Manu made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo on Saturday.
He said the call became imperative following activities of miscreants who were bent on causing public disturbances in the name of religion in the state.
According to him, criminals have infiltrated religious bodies with the sole aim of causing confusion so as to benefit from it.
“If you watch very well, you will see that when they attack, they first loot the shops or houses of their victims before setting them ablaze.
“The worst thing that can happen to us as a people in Taraba is to have religious crisis.
“To the best of my knowledge, what is happening in southern and parts of Central Taraba is not religious crisis, but land-related problems,’’ he said.
He urged the people to embrace peace and respect each other’s religion so as not to create room for the miscreants to capitalise on it to cause problem in the state.
Manu said the council had directed its members in all branches to preach love, unity and peace in their sermons during Ramadan.
The chairman urged the people to support Gov. Darius Ishaku, to deliver on his campaign promises in the interest of the state. (NAN).

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
