New Taraba Assembly speaker, deputy visit governor Ishaku



Taraba state governor, Darius Ishaku, has advised the new leadership of the state House of Assembly to work as true representatives of the people.

The governor spoke when the leadership of the assembly under new speaker Joseph Kunini paid him a visit hours after their inauguration on Monday.

Correspondent Owolabi Adenusi  reports that the gloom that hung over the Taraba state House of Assembly during the battle for political control has finally dissipated three days after the crisis rose to its peak.
The plot to impeach former speaker Peter Diah, steadily grew till on Sunday, he threw in the towel, resigning as speaker.

The new speaker and his deputy paid a visit to the governor to pledge their support to him.

For his part, Governor Darius Ishaku noted that his administration will uphold the principle of Separation of Powers and support the lawmakers to
perform their constitutional obligations in the interest of the people.

The governor applauded the lawmakers for the maturity they displayed in the timely resolution of the dispute that rose among them.
Some lawmakers in an interview with TVC News denied rumours that they were sponsored to remove the former speaker, but close watchers of the political developments in the state expressed divergent views on the emergence of the new speaker.
The change in the leadership of the State Assembly notwithstanding, many believed, that both the governor and former speaker are still on cordial
terms.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
