Taraba PDP chairman, spokesman in war of words over tribunal ruling

 The Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Taraba state  has been advised not to waste its time and energy going to the appeal court over the ruling of the governorship election petition  tribunal which removed governor Darius Ishaku.
Publicity Secretary of the party Mr. Napoleon Adamu who was expelled from the party recently for supporting the verdict of the tribunal said the party was the architect of its own problem  for refusing to conduct the governorship primaries in Jalingo, Taraba state capital  as required by the law.
He said he cautioned the party against conducting the primaries   in Abuja  but that no one listened to him.
Adamu said there was a time when he announced that all elected delegates should assemble in Jalingo for the governorship primaries but that the state chairman Mr. Victor Bala Kona asked the then police commissioner to  invite  him to his office for questioning.
He said he was held for over six hours answering questions as to why he announced  that the primaries was going to be held in Jalingo.
The former publicity secretary who described his expulsion from the party as madness, said he was not given a chance to defend himself  as the constitution of the party provides.
“Can PDP in the state claim to have conducted its governorship primaries in Jalingo as required by the law?" he asked.
According to him, he former  PDP National chairman  Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and INEC had  come out to say that  Taraba PDP did not hold its primaries in Jalingo as required by law. ‎
Reacting to the comments by Mr. Adamu, the state chairman of the party Mr Victor Bala Kona said the former publicity secretary was an embarrassment to the party and that was why he was expelled.
The chairman  said he operated an open door policy where members were carried along  a style which he said had given the party wider acceptability.
“How can a person holding such position of a spoke person of the party support  the kangaroo judgment  of  that tribunal? “the chairman  asked.
Mr Bala stated that all of them in PDP disagreed with the ruling while the former publicity secretary "singled out himself and supported it if not (that) he had an agenda.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
