PDP Women Protest Tribunal Judgement In Jalingo

Women in Taraba state on Tuesday staged a peaceful procession across the streets of Jalingo to protest the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal which set aside the election of Darius Ishaku as governor of the state.

The tribunal had declared the APC candidate, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, as winner of the gubernatorial election on the grounds that Ishaku was not validly nominated as candidate of the People's Democratic Party ( PDP ).

The women, under the aegis of "Taraba PDP Women" marched through major streets of the state capital singing (Darius mu ke so), meaning 'it's Darius we want" and "All we are saying, give us justice" before converging at the Women Development Centre, where they addressed pressmen. Addressing Journalists on behalf of the women, former Special Adviser to the state governor on Finance and Banking, Hajiya Fatima Hassan said women in the state are not satisfied with the tribunal saying the tribunal left issues before it and delve into pre-election matter.

According to her "We are not satisfied with the judgment of the tribunal. We pray that the Appeal Court would look at the merits of the case. Whoever that is not satisfied with the conduct of the primary election is expected to go to court and that is a pre- election issue", she stated.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
